Introducing Holy Trinity Child Care Centre – Norfolk’s newest centre for quality child care

For immediate release

SIMCOE – Today, we are pleased to celebrate the ceremonial opening and blessing of the Holy Trinity Child Care Centre located at Holy Trinity Catholic High School, 128 Evergreen Hill Road, Simcoe. The 3,900 square foot addition to the Holy Trinity building includes 49 new licensed child care spaces, run by Today’s Family, for children aged 0-4 and will begin welcoming families next month.

As part of the province’s capital investment program to build more child care spaces for families, a $1.7 million investment was provided to the Board.

“The opening of this child care centre is monumental for Norfolk families,” said Rick Petrella, Chair of the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB). "They now have an opportunity to access more licensed child care spaces that are innovative, community-minded, and closer to home. This new centre provides an innovative, safe place where infants, toddlers, and our youngest learners can thrive and expands our wonderful Holy Trinity Catholic High School community."

“Hard-working Simcoe families deserve safe, more affordable, and high-quality child care,” said Education Minister, Stephen Lecce. “By building a new child care centre at Holy Trinity Catholic High School, and by delivering a $13.2 billion child care agreement, our government is taking real action by investing in new child care spaces and finally making child care affordable for Ontario parents.”

The child care addition, to the existing site, is located at the front east area of the building which was selected for its proximity to a convenient private entrance and designated parent drop-off area. There is a private outdoor natural play space accessible only through the child care facility, a full-service kitchen, individual areas for each age group, and large windows incorporated into the design to promote natural light and openness.

“Today’s Family is pleased to work with BHNCDSB and Norfolk County to provide new and much needed child care spaces. Together, we are supporting children and families in our community with safe, quality early learning, and child care programs. We look forward to continuing to serve the community,” said Brenda Ferguson, Today’s Family Chief Operating Officer.

The centre, open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offers inspirational learning opportunities including open learning centres as well as play-based activities, and provides services for 49 children including 10 infants, 15 toddlers, and 24 preschoolers. The centre employs eight Registered Early Childhood Educators and one full-time certified food handler who is responsible for nutritional health including snacks and lunch for the children.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with the Ministry of Education, the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board, and Today’s Family to offer additional licensed child care spaces in Norfolk County,” said Heidy Van Dyk, Acting General Manager, Haldimand Norfolk Health & Social Services. “Access to safe, high-quality, affordable child care is important to so many families in our community and we are grateful to work with our partners to help address these community needs.”
